I think it depends on whether you actually own and drive a race car, or you're just a spectator. I personally as an owner and driver of 2 cars I prefer the 1/8 mile. I have just as much of an adrenaline rush as i ever did in the 1/4. It's definitely easier on my pocket when it comes to buying race fuel etc. It's also easier on the cars maintenance-wise when it comes to rebuilding engines, trannies, and anything that goes wrong from wear and tear. I certainly understand that as a spectator you want to see the cars run a 1/4 mile. You think you're getting your money's worth. I can promise you though, that there are alot more cars these days running on the edge of chaos, because they only run 1/8th mile. I mean there are street cars running in the 3's. That has to be more exciting than watching a car run out in high gear for another 1/8th mile. Just my $.02 worth on the topic. Do you want to see cars running on the edge, or watch a car run out in high gear where nothing is going to happen unless the car malfunctions?
